As is well known, African swine fever can only be transmitted through contact due to its large virus particles and other characteristics. The occurrence of the disease requires these three elements: pathogen, transmission route, and susceptible animals. Therefore, preliminary prevention is to improve the level of biological safety and prevent pathogens from outside the field, which is the purpose of environmental purification.
On site zoning
The living area and production area are divided on site, and the production area is divided into clean and dirty areas. Clean and dirty roads are set up on site to avoid crossing, and the production area should be separated from the outside by walls.
Gate Post
The gatepost is equipped with a shower room and a material disinfection room. Materials enter from the contaminated area (outside the site) and are disinfected before entering the clean area (living area). The gate post is equipped with full vehicle washing and disinfection equipment, including disinfection tanks, disinfection machines, cleaning equipment, and sprinkler systems. 20% glutaraldehyde solution is uniformly used as disinfectant, with a normal dilution ratio of 1:1000 and a dilution ratio of 1:500 under high infection pressure.
Feeding tower (feed room)
In principle, ensure that internal feed trucks do not leave the site and external feed trucks do not enter, and configure on-site transfer vehicles.
Pig platform/channel
It is recommended to use off-site transfer vehicles to transport pigs, and the transfer station should be no less than 3 kilometers away from the pig farm.
Isolation facility
Set up isolation facilities, which should be at least 500 meters away from the production area of the pig farm. The isolation facilities should be cleaned, disinfected, dried, and empty before the pigs enter. Observe the clinical manifestations of pigs during the quarantine period and conduct pathogen testing. The testing items include: swine fever, African swine fever, reproductive and respiratory syndrome, pseudorabies, etc. Both residents and pigs in the quarantine facility are isolated and released after passing the quarantine. After the isolation is lifted, transfer out the pigs and continue to clean, disinfect, dry, and empty the pens.
